RB Jaylen Warren is listed as questionable for Steelers’ game vs. Dolphins due to illness

Jaylen Warren, the leading rusher for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season, is a late addition to the team’s injury report and is listed as questionable to play Monday night because of an illness.

The Steelers (7-6) will face the Miami Dolphins (6-7) at Acrisure Stadium.

Warren was not listed on the injury report until Monday morning. He leads the team with 652 yards rushing and shares the team lead in rushing touchdowns (four) with Kenny Gainwell. If Warren cannot play, Gainwell likely will take over the starting role. Gainwell has rushed for 317 yards and leads the team with a 4.6-yard average per carry.

Warren also has caught 30 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns this season. He and Gainwell have split the playing time at running back this season. Rookie Kaleb Johnson could take on an increased role in Warren’s absence.

Warren has started 11 of 12 games this season. He did not play in the overseas game against the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin because of a knee injury.

Cornerback James Pierre (calf), offensive lineman Andrus Peat (concussion) and outside linebacker T.J. Watt (lung) already have been ruled out from playing against Miami. Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon (knee) is questionable.
