‘Flooding possible’ at two Staffordshire rivers as warnings issued

Two rivers in the county could be at risk of bursting their banks according to The Environment Agency’s Check for Flooding Service, who have put two amber flood alerts in place.

It means they believe flooding is possible in both the  ‘Stone Trent’ and the ‘River Sow and River Penk’ areas of Staffordshire.

They are part of 84 amber flood warnings across the UK, while seven have received red alerts, meaning flooding is expected in those areas.

It comes as the Met Office has update on its forecast for the West Midlands as amber alerts are issued for parts of the UK.

A Met Office amber weather warning is currently in force for some parts of the UK – including North Staffordshire – with “very heavy and persistent rain” expected to continue into next week, with a potential danger to life in some areas.
