St. Peter’s Square filled with light: The inauguration of the Nativity scene and the Christmas tree (VIDEO ONLY)

Although this year it took longer than in others, one of the most special moments of Advent has finally happened.
At five o’clock in the afternoon, Rome time, St. Peter’s Square was filled with light with the lighting of the Christmas tree and the inauguration of the Nativity scene in front of the basilica.
The entire square and Bernini’s imposing colonnade filled with pilgrims who had gathered in the heart of Christendom to witness this magical moment
The lighting ceremony was attended by the President of the Governorate of Vatican City State, Rafaella Petrini.
The Nativity scene chosen for this Christmas was created in the Diocese of Nocera Inferiore–Sarno, in the south of the transalpine country. It features representations of characteristic monuments from its place of origin and also recreates elements of early Christian art.
