Report: This All-Big 12 quarterback plans to enter transfer portal

One of the Big 12’s top quarterbacks is reportedly planning to explore his options following a breakout junior campaign.

Cincinnati’s Brendan Sorsby “intents to enter the NCAA transfer portal,” according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, while he waits for his NFL draft grade.

That opens the possibility for Sorsby to explore both his other options at the collegiate level while deciding whether or not to declare for the NFL draft.

Sorsby excelled as a dual-threat quarterback for the Bearcats during the 2025 season, throwing for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions — with a career-best 155.1 QB rating and 61.6% completion percentage — while also rushing for 580 yards and nine touchdowns.

He earned second-team All-Big 12 honors as a result.

Under Sorsby’s leadership, the Bearcats got off to a 5-0 start to Big 12 play this year — and 7-1 overall — and were in the conference race before a four-game losing streak to end the regular season.

Per Thamel, Sorsby will not play in Cincinnati’s bowl game. The Bearcats will face Navy in the Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2.

Sorsby joins other prominent Big 12 quarterbacks who intend to enter the portal in Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt and UCF’s Tayven Jackson.

The new, 15-day NCAA transfer window will open Jan. 2 and stay open until Jan. 16.
