LSU, Lane Kiffin Could Emerge as Favorites for Star WR in Transfer Portal

The LSU Tigers are entering a new era under Lane Kiffin, who is well known for being a master in the transfer portal.

Of course, Kiffin will have his work cut out for him in Baton Rouge, as LSU went just 7-5 this season and will have a lot of holes to fill heading into 2026.

One of the biggest areas of need for the Tigers will be at the wide receiver position, where no player even totaled 500 receiving yards in 2025. Plus, LSU will be losing quite a few of them.

Kiffin is expected to be very active in the portal to try and rectify the issue, and perhaps the top target for LSU will be Michigan State Spartans star Nick Marsh.

Marsh has revealed his plans to enter the transfer portal after two seasons at Michigan State, and the fact that he was able to produce in spite of such a pedestrian quarterback situation in Lansing is rather impressive.

The 6-foot-3 burner caught 41 passes for 649 yards and three touchdowns last season and followed that up by hauling in 59 receptions for 662 yards and six scores this year.

Marsh owns a lifetime average of 13.1 yards per catch on the collegiate level and has a pair of 100-yard performances to his name, although both of them come during his freshman campaign. His high-water mark was 194 yards, which he achieved in the second game of his career against Maryland in 2024.

Nevertheless, Marsh remained a consistent option in Michigan State’s aerial attack in spite of disappointing play from quarterback Aidan Chiles this year.

Now, to be clear, LSU’s circumstances under center are currently in serious question, as well. Garrett Nussmeier will be departing after a rough campaign, and there are no proven internal options for the Tigers.

Kiffin may ultimately try and pluck a signal-caller via the transfer portal, as well, but no matter who is playing quarterback for the Tigers in 2026, he will need weapons at his disposal.

That’s why making a push for Marsh — perhaps one of the most underrated receivers in the country — would be ideal for LSU, and it would make complete sense for both sides.
