Flight cancellations, delays continue at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Hundreds of flights have been canceled or delayed for the second day in a row at the world’s busiest airport.

As of 12:30 p.m., FlightAware reports 146 cancellations and 320 flight delays at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Detrich Waters said his 8 a.m. flight to Dallas was cancelled.

“You always see people sitting around, and you wonder what they’re going through. Today’s my day,” Waters said.

He said he found out after he went to the Delta counter due to issues with the Delta app.

“They were like it wouldn’t have mattered anyway, all the flights had been canceled for the rest of the day, going to Dallas. All of them,” Waters said.

A spokesperson with Delta said weather conditions have driven delays since Sunday.

Around 8 a.m. Sunday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that all inbound flights at ATL were being held because of low visibility. The ground stop was lifted before 11 a.m., but some flights continued to be impacted.

Monday’s interruptions are due to a precautionary “deicing,” according to the FAA. Departing aircrafts are being sprayed with deicing fluid to remove snow and ice, they said.
