Police launch investigation into NSW cricketer over allegations of ‘sexual touching’

NSW Blues cricketer Ross Pawson is being investigated by police over allegations of sexual touching.

Detectives from the state crime command’s sex crimes squad have commenced an investigation into the fast bowler, who played in the NSW Blues’ most recent Sheffield Shield match earlier this month.

Pawson had his registration to play cancelled following an emergency meeting of the Cricket NSW board, called to discuss allegations that he also sent unsolicited and inappropriate naked photos of himself to young cricketers.

On Tuesday, Pawson denied the allegation, saying in a statement: “I completely deny the allegation. It is absolutely rubbish!”

In a statement provided to this masthead, a State Crime Command spokesperson said an investigation was under way. No charges have been laid, and nothing has been proven.

“On Wednesday 10 December 2025, police were made aware of allegations of sexual touching against a 31-year-old man,” the statement said.

“Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad have commenced an investigation and inquiries are continuing.”

The incidents, only reported recently, relate to young cricketers at Pawson’s Sydney grade cricket club, Northern District, based in Waitara.

One victim made a complaint to the club, which passed on the information to Cricket NSW.
