Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Announced with Free Upgrade and Global Patch; PC Public Beta Live

Team Cherry has announced Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which will be released in 2026.
Fans can anticipate high-frame-rate modes, higher resolutions, and additional graphical effects, all similar to Silksong’s treatment on the platform. Additionally, a free upgrade has been confirmed for owners of the game on the original Switch.
Alongside this news, the game will be updated across all existing platforms, adding new features and remedying bugs. PC players, in particular, can experience these updates now via public-beta branches on Steam and GOG. These include full 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratio support for Steam Deck owners and ultrawide monitors.
Lastly, Studio Tyto has announced that new Silksong mini-figurines are now pre-orderable via Fangamer.
You can view the quoted patch notes below:
- Added support for 21:9 & 16:10 resolutions.
- Game now pauses while in inventory menus.
- Upgraded to Unity Input System for broader controller support (original input system is still available, if preferred, via Options>Controller>Advanced Settings)
- Added dithering effect, and dithering options, to reduce colour banding.
- Fixed a softlock in City of Tears Grub room.
- Reduced Grey Prince Zote’s stagger bounce height.
- Updated Sly’s Great Slash collider to closer match visual.
- Salubra’s Blessing now deactivates after reaching max Soul.
- Various smaller fixes and tweaks.
We are aware of an issue where cutscenes are not playing on Mac, and are working on a fix for this.
Additionally, there is an issue with cutscenes showing a “test pattern” when playing on Steam Deck, which is due to the system defaulting to an incompatible proton version. We are working on a fix for this, but for now it can be worked around by selecting a “Linux Runtime” version in the compatibility settings, which forces the system to use the Linux-native version of the game.
Hollow Knight is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
