Report: Braves bring back Kim on 1-year, $20M deal

The Atlanta Braves and shortstop Ha-Seong Kim agreed to a one-year, $20-million contract, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
The Braves claimed Kim off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays in early September before the 2023 Gold Glover declined his $16-million option for 2026.
The 30-year-old projects to be Atlanta’s starting shortstop come Opening Day.
Kim hit a combined five homers with 17 RBIs, posted six stolen bases, and had a .649 OPS over 48 games between the Braves and Rays in 2025. He returned in July from shoulder surgery but also dealt with back issues.
Kim’s best campaign came in 2023 with the San Diego Padres when he went deep 17 times with 60 RBIs, 38 steals, and a .749 OPS en route to authoring a career-high 4.2 fWAR.
