It’s the holiday season, which means that all across the country, divorced men are being cordial with their exes at various children’s recitals and school holiday functions. While this might be awkward for some people, there are a few men who thrive in this kind of environment. Take, for example, Ben Affleck, who had not one but two ex-wives in the audience at his kid’s play over the weekend. The actor seemed characteristically chill about the whole thing.

On Friday night, Affleck and Jennifer Garner pulled up to a theater where their 16-year-old, Fin, was starring in a play alongside Lopez’s 17-year-old, Emme, per photos published by “Page Six.” Affleck and Garner appeared to carpool, coming in with their son Samuel. Lopez arrived separately and was joined by her mom, Guadalupe, and her longtime manager, Benny Medina. While “Page Six” didn’t share photos of Affleck and Lopez catching up, there were some sweet shots of Samuel chatting with his former stepmom.

This is not the first time that Bennifer has been brought back together by their kids’ school. Last year, Affleck and Lopez reportedly caught up at back-to-school night, where sources told TMZ that the former couple was “totally cool with each other” and “very cordial.” In the year since, Affleck has offered nothing but kind words about both Jennifers, heaping praise onto Lopez for her work in Kiss of the Spider Woman (which he produced) and calling Garner a “great partner” with whom he has “great kids.” Meanwhile, Lopez said that her divorce from Affleck was “the best thing that ever happened” to her and that it made her “more self-aware.”

So in case you’re wondering how to maintain a somewhat positive post-divorce situation, here’s what we can learn from Ben and his Jens: The ex-husband needs to be effusive, and the ex-wife needs to have an emotional glow-up. If you can pull off those two things, then seeing a play in the same room is probably no big deal.
