Jamal Murray chipped in 26 points and 10 assists while the Rockets saw Reed Sheppard explode for 27 points off the bench while Amen Thompson went for 22 and Jabari Smith Jr. added 21, but Kevin Durant shot just five-for-15 and one-for-five from 3 for 13 points.
Denver has lost four straight on its home floor, but is coming into this meeting after sweeping a four-game road trip. The Nuggets haven’t played since Thursday when they went into Sacramento and dispatched of the Kings, 136-105. Houston hasn’t played since Thursday either, when it took care of business and knocked off the LA Clippers, 115-113, with Thompson providing the winning bucket on an and-1 tip-in with fewer than 20 seconds remaining.
The Nuggets enter this game at 18-6, which is good enough for second in the West, while the Rockets are 16-6 and third in the conference.
