Dolphins officially eliminated from playoffs for second straight year

The Miami Dolphins are officially out of contention for a spot in the playoffs following their 28-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The defeat dropped the Dolphins to 6-8 on the season with three weeks left to play. While three consecutive wins to end the year would get Miami above .500, there are already two teams in both the AFC East and AFC South with at least 10 wins. The last wild card berth in the AFC is currently held by the 9-5 Houston Texans, who have clinched a tiebreaker over the Dolphins.
It’s a second straight year outside the playoffs for the Dolphins, who went to the postseason in Mike McDaniel’s first two years at the helm.
It also extends the Dolphins’ dubious postseason win drought. Miami’s last playoff victory came a quarter century ago on Dec. 30, 2000. The 25-year streak without a win in the playoffs is the longest active drought in the NFL.
For now, with three weeks left to play, the Dolphins are in line to pick No. 11 overall in the 2026 NFL draft.
