Senne Lammens conceded four but also showed why he’ll be a huge success at Man Utd

It’s not often that praise pieces are written for a goalkeeper after a game where he has conceded four, but Senne Lammens showed why he’s destined to be a success at Man Utd.
Man Utd’s frantic 4-4 draw against Bournemouth means Ruben Amorim’s men end the matchweek in sixth position, but the result is frustrating.
Man Utd led twice, only to trail once, before settling for a draw where all the attacking quality was undone by moments of madness defensively.

Senne Lammens comes through a tough test
Gary Neville has said before that being the goalkeeper of Man Utd is the hardest job in football, where more than just talent is needed to succeed.
Every save you make, or don’t make, is scrutinised endlessly, and it can often trap you into cycles of extreme highs and extreme lows.
Andre Onana suffered from it, where he made one mistake, had the scanner on him, which led to his form snowballing into disaster.
The opposite of that was shown by Lammens vs Bournemouth, because he expertly shook off things he could have done better to eventually make a save that earned a point for Utd.

Lammens could have done more to save at least two of the four goals conceded, but at the same time, he didn’t let those shortcomings dictate his form.
He got back up, wiped away those mistakes from his brain, and made a brilliant save near the end that showed his mental resilience.
Lammens will still grow as a goalkeeper in terms of pure talent, but that has never been enough at United.
After all, Onana came to United as a goalkeeper who was the star of a Champions League final.
Reaching that level of pedigree didn’t help the Cameroonian because he wilted under the pressure of being a United goalkeeper.
Lammens showed vs Bournemouth that he’s not the same.
Man Utd will invest in Lammens
The way Lammens was drafted into the starting XI and never looked back bodes well for his prospects at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim is clearly willing to trust in Lammens’ growth by backing him, and the player has responded in kind.
He has lost just one game in a United jersey, although he would have liked to have more wins; but except for this Bournemouth game, there have been no “howlers” as such.
Even calling the Bournemouth game a howler would be a stretch because he more than made up for it eventually, making it a perfectly average game instead.
He has got the most important part of success down, which is his mental resilience. The growth in his game as a player will come with time.
