Coming to bat at number 5 for India, wicketkeeper-batsman Abhigyan Kundu built a 209-run partnership with Vedant Trivedi after three wickets had fallen. He played an unbeaten innings of 209 runs off 125 balls. This included 16 fours and 9 sixes.
Malaysia won the toss and decided to bowl first.
