Macomb County lottery player just won $32.9M; now they need to claim it

Someone who bought a lottery ticket at a Chesterfield Township retailer may soon be about $33 million richer, Michigan Lottery officials announced Monday.

The lucky player hit the $32.91 million jackpot for the Lotto 47 game by choosing the numbers 02-03-12-15-16-33, according to Michigan Lottery Connect.

The winning ticket was purchased at Wild Bills Tobacco, 46518 Gratiot Ave., in Chesterfield Township, about 35 miles north of Detroit in Macomb County.

Lottery officials said win is the largest Lotto 47 jackpot ever won. The previous record was set in November 2020, when two players split a $32.3 million jackpot in tickets purchased in Ferndale and Lake Odessa.

The winning player is asked to call the Michigan Lottery Player Relations division at (844) 917-6325 to set up an appointment to claim their winnings. The ticket is valid for one year from the date of the drawing, which was Saturday.

The win marks the third for a Lotto 47 jackpot this year. In April, a player hit a $5.46 million jackpot after buying a ticket at a Speedway gas station in Kalamazoo. In January, a player won $1.3 million thanks to a ticket purchased at Mac’s II Inc., in Taylor.

The game costs $1 per play. Players select six numbers between 1 and 47. Jackpots start at $1 million and continue to grow until someone wins.

Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in more than 10.7 million, the Michigan Lottery says. Players can also win prizes ranging from $5 to $2,500 if at least three of their numbers are drawn.

Drawings take place at 7:29 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The lottery also is waiting for a player to claim a $1 million prize after a winning Powerball ticket was bought Saturday at a retailer in Cheboygan.
