What kit are Chelsea wearing against Cardiff City? | News | Official Site

The Blues are back in Carabao Cup action later this evening against Cardiff City, as we prepare for our quarter-final clash of the cup competition.

After beating Lincoln City and Wolves in our run to the final eight of the cup competition, we head to the Cardiff City Stadium looking to book our place in semi-final. The Blues will face off against the Bluebirds, who are currently top of League One, with the game starting at 8pm.

We last faced Cardiff in the League Cup back in 1986, while we most recently went head-to-head in 2019 – securing a 2-1 win in the Premier League, via goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Meanwhile Cardiff, managed by Brian Barry-Murphy, have already beaten the likes of Wrexham and Premier League side Burnley to reach this stage of the competition.

The Chelsea players will be kitted out in our away strip in South Wales, with the distinctive white, green and red design first introduced in the 1970s as a tribute to Hungary’s famous ‘Magnificent Magyars’ team from two decades earlier.

This theme has been reimagined, resulting in a classy shirt that you’ll see in action later today.
