Who is Prashant Veer, the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history who went to CSK for Rs. 14.20 crore

Prashant Veer became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history after CSK bought him for Rs. 14.20 crore at the IPL 2026 auction.
Veer entered the auction at a base price of Rs. 30 lakh and immediately sparked interest, with Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians bidding early before Chennai Super Kings joined once MI dropped out. The price rose swiftly to Rs. 4.2 crore with CSK in control, only for Rajasthan Royals to jump in and drive it up to Rs. 6 crore. CSK responded to keep the contest alive, pushing the bid to Rs. 6.6 crore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad then triggered a dramatic escalation, taking the price from Rs. 6.8 crore into double figures as the bidding surged towards Rs. 14 crore. CSK stayed in through the final exchanges and eventually prevailed, securing Veer for Rs. 14.20 crore when no further bids were placed.
First spotted while representing Noida Super Kings in the UP T20 League, the 20-year-old left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder has since put together an impressive Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign. Chennai Super Kings will hope to groom Veer as a long-term successor to Ravindra Jadeja.
From 10 games in UP T20 League 2025, Veer gathered 320 runs at an impressive strike rate of 155.34, smashing 14 sixes.
Recently, Veer was one of the two players, the other being Sameer Rizvi, who criss-crossed between Mumbai and Kolkata, playing six matches in seven days across the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Uttar Pradesh’s Under-23 fixtures. He finished that stretch with 112 runs at a strike rate of 170 and nine wickets at an economy of 6.76.
Pacer Rasikh Dar was the most expensive uncapped signing at the previous auction, snapped up by RCB for Rs 6 crore. Before today, the most expensive uncapped signing was Avesh Khan, who was signed by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs. 10 crore in 2022.
