Tragic Demise of BLO Sparks Outcry Over Workload Pressures

In a tragic incident that has sparked widespread concern, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) stationed in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district passed away due to alleged overwork. The officer, Nanbachcha, serving in the Katra Bazar assembly constituency, succumbed at a Lucknow hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Family members have claimed unbearable work stress as a key factor in his untimely demise. They allege that Nanbachcha was burdened by intense pressure from education officials, particularly as he was also tasked with duties related to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, alongside his teaching roles.

The incident has prompted demands for a thorough investigation, with calls for accountability and compensatory measures for Nanbachcha’s bereaved family. Meanwhile, local teacher groups have shown solidarity by fundraising to offset medical costs, highlighting the broader concern of work-related stress among educators.
