Eibar vs Elche
Copa del Rey, 6pm Tuesday
Eibar and Elche both finished in the top half of Spain’s Segunda Division last season but there is a gulf between the teams this term.
Elche, promoted to La Liga as runners-up to Levante, have made a solid start to their top-flight campaign while Eibar are 20th out of 22 teams in the second tier.
All four of Eibar’s league wins have come at home but they were beaten 2-1 by mid-table Leonesa and bottom club Real Zaragoza in their last two games on their own patch.
Elche are used to mixing in better company and defender David Affengruber remarked after last month’s 2-2 draw with Real Madrid that “we’re a little bit disappointed to get [only] a point”.
They beat Eibar 2-0 at home and away in the league last season and are a tempting bet to win Tuesday’s Copa del Rey round-of-32 tie in 90 minutes
