Patrick Kielty and his Late Late Show is off air this Friday 19 December as another Irish icon replaces him for the night.

The Late Late Show is absent from RTÉ One’s Friday schedule with a replacement issued for the slot.

Replacing The Late Late Show is another Irish comic in Brendan O’Carroll.

Mrs Brown’s Boys New Year’s Special will begin at 9:35pm following the Nine O’Clock news, The Late Late Show’s usual slot.

However, the New Year’s special is a repeat. The episode sees Agnes turn her spare room into a bed-and-breakfast as she remains unaware that a dangerous, escaped criminal is on the loose in Finglas.

In other RTÉ telly news, Tommy Tiernan and his wife Yvonne have an x-rated Christmas tradition as he let slip in a candid chat on national radio.

Tiernan, a Navan-native who went to boarding school in Co Galway before making the county his forever home with his multi-talented wife Yvonne Mahon, will return to screens with his award-winning show in the coming weeks.

The adopted Galway comic revealed that he and Yvonne “like to make love at midnight each Christmas Eve” when asked if he had any Christmas rituals. Whether or not it was near enough the chimney to embarrass Santy was not revealed, however.

Host Brendan O’Connor then responded “That’s nice…” in a sheepish tone after a second’s pause, before Tommy and the host burst out laughing.

Tommy took the mickey out of Brendan’s response saying it was like “a sound he would make if he was in the room watching us.”
