Dwyane Wade explains why he stopped Allen Iverson to Heat trade

Allen Iverson and Dwyane Wade in the same backcourt would have been a scary sight for every NBA team to face. The thought of that duo would keep coaches up at night scheming for ways to slow them down.
Those two never teamed up, but they almost did.
The Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat were in talks to send Iverson to the Heat in 2006, but Wade stepped in and shut it down after a talk with president Pat Riley. The deal would have sent popular Miami forward Udonis Haslem to the Sixers, and Wade explained on Amazon Prime why he stepped in and stopped it:
He (Riley) was like, ‘You in?’ I said, ‘I’m in.’ He’s like, ‘We’re going to have to trade U.D.,’ and I said, ‘I’m out. I’m out.’ That was it.
Wade has a high amount of respect for Iverson, and he knows how deadly they would be as a duo, but it was obvious he felt that the Heat needed Haslem. Miami went on to win the title in 2006 before then winning in 2012 and 2013 with Haslem playing a role on all three title teams.
Meanwhile, the Sixers did end up sending Iverson to the Denver Nuggets early in the 2006-07 season which brought them reliable guard Andre Miller in the deal.
