Why Niall Horan Isn’t Performing on The Voice Tonight (December 16, 2025)

Historically, the Live Finale of each season of The Voice features all four Coaches taking the stage alongside their remaining Artists for once-in-a-lifetime performances.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Unfortunately, Niall Horan won’t be part of that time-honored tradition on Tuesday, December 16. The “Slow Hands” singer is feeling sick and on vocal rest, meaning he will not be singing during the final episode of Season 28. (Don’t worry, he’s expected to make a full recovery.)

Season 28 wraps up tonight, and before the episode is over, fans will find out who will walk away as the winning Artist — and winning Coach. Team Niall has two representatives in the Final 6: Texas A&M student Aiden Ross and the country-pop trio DEK of Hearts, but Horan won’t be performing alongside either Finalist.

However, it’s not all bad news for Voice fans — thankfully, someone will step in to perform with Team Niall tonight.

Who will step in to sing in place of Niall Horan tonight on The Voice?

Ross and DEK of Hearts won’t have to worry about performing alone during the December 16 episode. The Queen of Country herself, Reba McEntire, will take the stage and give Team Niall a helping hand!

McEntire, who has one Finalist on her team (Aubrey Nicole, who advanced all the way to the Live Finale despite only earning a 1-Chair Turn during her Blind Audition) will lend her vocal talents to three of the six duet performances scheduled.

Who are the Final 6 Artists remaining on The Voice?

These are the final Artists still in the running:

  • Team Niall: Aiden Ross, DEK of Hearts
  • Team Reba: Aubrey Nicole
  • Team Bublé: Jazz McKenzie, Max Chamber
  • Team Snoop: Ralph Edwards

While every Coach wants to walk away the winner of Season 28, Horan and Michael Bublé have a personal competition they each want to win. They are a perfect two-for-two in season victories throughout their Voice careers, with Horan winning Seasons 23 and 24 and Bublé winning Seasons 26 and 27.

If either Coach is declared the winner of this season, they’ll have bragging rights for the rest of their lives — and they’ll probably never let the other hear the end of it.

Tune in to The Voice Season 28 Live Finale tonight, December 16, at 9/8c on NBC and watch all the drama unfold.
