The Ashes 2025 third Test day one LIVE updates: Carey, Inglis fight back after Adelaide Oval left stunned by Khawaja’s dismissal

After a career-defining game with the gloves at the Gabba, Alex Carey now has a similar performance with the bat.
In front of his friends and family and his home crowd, Carey has hit his first Ashes century, and the third of his Test career.
And it’s an emotional one as well. Carey was punching the air as he completed a third run.

He took his helmet off and looked to the heavens, presumably a tribute to his late father Gordon, who died in September. He had tears welling in his eyes, as did his wife Eloise in the stands.
He’ll need to take a few deep breaths to regroup because he still has a big job ahead of him.
As has been his way in the last two years, he has scored his runs when his team desperately needed them.
This century did not come with Australia bossing the game, but with his team behind the eight-ball after a string of careless dismissals.
