  • T20 World Cup Trophy Tour Launched From Ram Setu: Paramotor Takes Trophy On Tour Above The Bridge; Tournament Set To Kick Off On 7 Feb

The T20 World Cup Trophy Tour was launched from Ram Setu.

The T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy Tour was launched over Ram Setu. On this occasion, the trophy was lifted off via a two-seater paramotor, making this launch historic and memorable.

In India, Adam’s Bridge is known as Ram Setu. This site is not only religiously and culturally significant but also connects the two host nations of the tournament, India and Sri Lanka.

20 teams will participate in the T20 World Cup 2026, and matches will be played for 29 days. The tournament will begin on 7 February, and matches will be held at a total of 8 venues across India and Sri Lanka.

The T20 World Cup trophy will also tour Asian countries like Oman and Nepal.

Why was the Ram Setu Bridge chosen?

Ram Setu is located between India and Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka are co-hosting the T20 World Cup 2026, so this location clearly represents the spirit of the tournament as a bridge connecting both countries.

The ICC has described this trophy tour not just as a promotional campaign, but as a journey connecting fans worldwide. The meaning of Ram Setu is to connect, and this is the message the Council wants to convey to countries and people through cricket.

Trophy Tour a medium to connect people worldwide – Jay Shah

ICC Chairman Jay Shah said that starting the Trophy Tour at a historical and cultural site like Ram Setu is an inspiring message for the upcoming major tournament. He said, “Launching the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy Tour with DP World above the Ram Setu, a site steeped in history, symbolism and shared cultural identity, sets an inspiring tone as we build towards this landmark event.

“This tour represents far more than the physical movement of a trophy. It is a unifying journey that brings continents, cultures and cricketing communities together, igniting passion among fans worldwide and strengthening the shared spirit that defines our game.

“As we prepare for the 10th edition of this global spectacle, our aim is for supporters everywhere to feel connected to the road to India and Sri Lanka. With every stop, the Trophy Tour will heighten the sense of anticipation and invite fans across the world to join us in celebrating what promises to be an unforgettable ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.”

Trophy will also visit Bahrain and Mongolia

Under the Trophy Tour, the trophy will visit several Asian countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Oman, Nepal, Bahrain, and Mongolia. This will give fans a chance to see the trophy up close and participate in interactive activities. During this period, college and campus visits, fan meets, public events, and cricket carnivals will be organised to promote cricket even in smaller countries.

Trophy to reach schools and colleges

As part of a special initiative, the trophy will also be taken to schools and colleges. This will give young fans the experience of connecting with global cricket. Additionally, the trophy will also be taken to major T20 leagues and bilateral series.

India-Pakistan clash set for 15 February

ICC had released the schedule for the ICC tournament on 25 November. The opening match will be played between the Netherlands and Pakistan on 7 February in Colombo. On the same day, India will play its first match against the USA at 7 PM. The team will then face Namibia on 12 February, Pakistan on 15 February, and the Netherlands on 18 February.
