A 54-year-old man has been charged with a third count of second-degree murder after a triple stabbing in East Vancouver earlier this year, police said Tuesday

Vancouver police said in a news release that Viet Quy John Ly was arrested on Sept. 5 and charged with second-degree murder in the deaths of Jianghui Deng, 55, and Chinxiu Yun, 54, who were found dead inside an apartment building near Joyce Street and Vanness Avenue.

The latest charge is related to the death of 50-year-old Jinfeng Guan, who was found injured in a residential building two blocks away from where Deng and Yun were discovered. Guan died in hospital on Sept. 11 as a result of her injuries.

Police said previously that Guan was previously married to Ly.

Ly remains in custody, police said.
