Hello again. India’s home season’s marquee tour nears its end, but we still have to decide this T20I series. India hold the 2-1 lead with two to go, are the favourites to win the series, but you wonder if the reaction at a rare loss – the kind after India lost the second T20I – weighs on them. You wonder if South Africa have the relative freedom.
After losing the Tests 2-0, India anyway will be wanting to win the T20Is as comprehensively as possible. If this tour followed the points system from the women’s Ashes – four points for a Test win and two for winning limited-overs games – South Africa would be leading India by 12 points to eight. If we look at it like that, while one win in the two coming matches would be enough for India to win this T20I series, they would really want to win 4-1 to draw some kind of parity in this tour.
On the other hand, imagine the pressure South Africa will put India under if they can somehow force a decider.
