Estevao Willian was not in the Chelsea matchday squad for tonight’s Carabao Cup quarter-final victory away to Cardiff City and Enzo Maresca has explained why.
Wingers Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto found the net in our 3-1 win, while Jamie Gittens and Tyrique George started the game on the flanks.
Estevao, who had come off the bench against Everton on Saturday, did not travel to South Wales. Maresca provided the latest on the Brazilian.
‘Estevao has a small muscular problem, a light injury,’ said the head coach, who was then asked when Estevao might feature again.
‘He won’t be available for Newcastle but we will see for the next one. I think he can be available for the next one.’
