Hamilton Academical FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Jonny Towers as a statutory director of the club.

Due to the recent SFA ruling, Gerry Strain will no longer be able to serve as a director of Hamilton Academical Football Club. Gerry will now focus on challenging that ruling, but in the meantime, he cannot continue in any official capacity with the club. The club wishes to thank Gerry for his dedication, integrity, and significant contributions during his time on the board, especially through challenging periods.

Jonny Towers, a senior executive at The Funding Globe Ltd—the company that provided emergency financial support on Friday, 12 December when the club was advised by majority shareholder Seref Zengin that, despite previous assurances, player and staff wages would not be paid—joins the board at a pivotal moment.

The Funding Globe brings an extensive network in the sports industry and is currently assembling an executive team to support the club’s ongoing recovery and future success.

All involved have great faith in acting head coach Darian MacKinnon and the talented team of players.

At this critical time, the club has formally requested guidance and support from both the SFA and SPFL to help ensure a stable and sustainable future for Hamilton Academical Football Club.

There is much work to do, and there will be no further statement on the above at this time.
