The single-camera dramedy Younger, inspired by Pamela Redmond Satran’s 2025 novel of the same name, has been making waves among Netflix viewers. Despite originally airing on TV Land between 2015 and 2019, Younger is currently the sixth-most-watched show on Netflix in the UK, following its recent debut on the streaming service.
The series, available on Paramount Plus and Hulu, delves into the personal and professional life of Liza Miller (Sutton Foster), a newly divorced 40 year old single mother. The show was created by Darren Star and features an impressive cast.
Star is renowned for creating several successful television shows, including Sex and the City, Beverly Hills, 90210 and most recently, Emily in Paris on Netflix.
Netflix describes Younger as follows: “After her marriage ends, a woman in her 40s pretends to be a 26-year-old assistant to restart her publishing career and get a new lease on life.”

Debi Mazar – Maggie Amato
Liza’s best friend and flatmate, Maggie Amato, is portrayed by Debi Mazar, a familiar face to film buffs from Goodfellas, Singles and Batman Forever.
She’s also recognised for her leading roles in legal drama series Civil Wars and L.A. Law, as well as playing press agent Shauna Roberts on the HBO series Entourage.

Miriam Shor – Diana Trout
Liza’s fiery boss Diana Trout is brought to life by Miriam Shor, who gained fame for her performance in the Off-Broadway rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and its subsequent film adaptation.
Her filmography also includes notable films such as Lost Girls, Maestro and American Fiction.

Hilary Duff – Kelsey Peters
Disney Channel star Hilary Duff takes on the role of Kelsey Peters, a 26 year old book editor at Empirical Press who strikes up a friendship with Liza at work.
While Duff is best known for her role as Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel from 2001 to 2004, she also starred in the Emmy-winning Hulu sitcom How I Met Your Father.
Her film credits include the Cheaper by the Dozen films, Cadet Kelly, Agent Cody Banks and A Cinderella Story.
Younger is currently available to stream on Netflix.
