Star’s daughter stuns in mum’s iconic dress

You’d be forgiven if you thought you were looking at old pictures that had resurfaced of Gwyneth Paltrow as daughter Apple Martin stepped out at the premiere of Marty Supreme this week.

The 21-year-old offspring of the Academy Award-winning actress and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, hit the red carpet in support of mum’s latest film in New York.

What was set to be a sweet family moment quickly turned into a show-stealing scene, as budding songbird Apple dominated the spotlight in one of her mother’s most iconic wardrobe pieces.

Appearing with her brother Moses, 19, Apple raided her mum’s wardrobe wearing her famous black Calvin Klein dress Gwyneth wore to the 1996 premiere of her hit film, Emma.

She matched the figure-hugging, backless number in a similar way her famous mum did almost 30 years ago, with minimal jewellery, hair slicked back and natural make-up.

As she posted highlights from the evening on Instagram, Gwyneth’s fans embraced the iconic moment.

“You know that daughter of yours lit the whole world up. What a moment,” one fan wrote.

“Apple is stunning in that black 90s dress by Calvin Klein,” another agreed.

Entertainment Tonight took the opportunity to make a closer comparison, which again had people shocked and seeing double.

“Aww, like a clone of mum. Gorge️ous,” someone wrote.

“She got the best from her mum,” another shared.

Another fan simply wrote: “Twinning.”

It’s not the first time that Gwyneth’s daughter has demonstrated that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree (I’m sorry, but give me credit for resisting thus far).

Back in 2022, Apple played dress up in Gwyneth’s controversial sheer black Alexander McQueen frock which she wore to the 2022 Academy Awards and captured the moment for fans online.

In an interview with Vogue, Gwyneth claimed her daughter has always taken an interest in her wardrobe – particularly on the hunt for vintage pieces.

“She pulls all kinds of stuff. She’s very into all my ’90s Calvin, of which there’s a lot, and the ’90s Prada, of which there’s a lot,” she told the publication.

“Sometimes we just play dress-up, and she’ll put on my Oscar dresses and stuff like that. We have fun down there.”

While she’s killing it in the fashion stakes with her mother as her muse, the singer has been panned for not exactly taking after her famous dad behind the microphone.

After a clip of a surprise performance with musical duo Jade Street ahead of her debut on their track, Satellite, was shared online in October, the star was ripped to shreds by the critics.

“That’s awful,” one user wrote bluntly on TikTok of her Nashville gig.

Others begged to “please spare the world” and claimed “those nepo babies are out of control”.
