The Raja Saab event mess: Makers slammed for poor planning — what’s the way forward?

The second song, Sahana Sahana, from Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, was launched yesterday at Lulu Mall, Hyderabad. Unfortunately, the event didn’t go as planned and turned chaotic, resulting in several untoward incidents. The film’s leading lady, Nidhhi Agerwal, was mobbed by the crowd while leaving the venue, and the visuals are now going viral on social media.

Fans and attendees complained that the entire event was poorly managed, with both the crowd and celebrities facing inconvenience. It’s a given that fans will come in large numbers when a big star’s event is held in a public place. Typically, big film teams prefer conducting such launches inside multiplex screens or controlled venues to avoid such hurdles.

On the other hand, makers of small films often promote their content by arranging LED screens in the mall premises to gain public attention. The Raja Saab team followed the same approach, which proved to be a miscalculation, resulting in overcrowding at the mall.

Unfortunately, Nidhhi Agerwal had to go through an unpleasant experience as fans got uncomfortably close to her in an attempt to take pictures. The event organisers and the makers are being slammed by netizens for their poor planning and inadequate security management.

Going forward, it would be wise to avoid malls for promotional events of big-ticket films, as overcrowding is highly likely, making safety and crowd management extremely challenging.
