Winnipeg police found there was no threat to a child or public safety after investigating an alleged encounter between a school-aged child and two men near a West End school, according to a Wednesday news release.
A child had reported that two men were driving in a white van, emerged wearing black clothing, and approached the child around 1 p.m. on Tuesday in the 600 block of Beverley Street, police said in a previous release.
The men were allegedly wearing masks and offered the child candy and a ride, but the child refused, the previous release said.
Police said the child turned and ran back to the school, and reported the incident to a staff member.
Police said on Wednesday that all investigations are taken seriously, and incidents are investigated to the fullest extent.
