Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal is joining Team USA.

The reigning back-to-back American League Cy Young winner committed Thursday, Dec. 18, to Team USA for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, which begins March 5 and ends March 17.

It will be Skubal’s first experience competing for Team USA.

Team USA has a stacked roster that features many MLB superstars, including Skubal, Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes, Bobby Witt Jr., Gunnar Henderson, Kyle Schwarber, Cal Raleigh, Corbin Carroll and Mason Miller, among others. The Team USA starting rotation will be headlined by Skubal and Skenes, but it also features Joe Ryan.

This is the sixth edition of the WBC.

For 2026, Team USA is a member of Pool B at Daikin Park in Houston, joining Mexico, Italy, Great Britain and Brazil. The first game for Team USA is scheduled for March 6 against Brazil.

Skubal becomes a free agent after the 2026 season.
