Domhnall Gleeson To Be Honoured With Prestigious Oscar Wilde Award

Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson is set to receive an Oscar Wilde Award next year in Los Angeles, recognising his outstanding contribution to film and television.

The honour will be presented at the US-Ireland Alliance’s annual awards event on 12 March 2026 at The Ebell theatre — a prestigious gathering in the run-up to the Academy Awards that celebrates Irish talent in Hollywood.

The news comes as another milestone in Gleeson’s varied career. The Dublin-born star has gained acclaim for roles ranging from Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter films to parts in Ex Machina, About Time and recent TV work, including Peacock’s The Paper.

US-Ireland Alliance president Trina Vargo praised Gleeson’s lasting talent, recalling his early stage role in The Lieutenant of Inishmore and noting how he has continued to grow as an actor across stage and screen.

This honour follows a history of celebrated Irish figures being recognised at the Oscars-adjacent event, marking a major accolade on the international stage for one of Ireland’s most respected performers.
