The ex-husband of the late Kirsty MacColl has revealed he does not believe the youngster reported to be driving the boat that crashed into her was actually driving the boat.
The British singer famously collaborated with The Pogues for Christmas classic Fairytale of New York.
Aged 41-years-old, Kirsty died in December 2000 when she was struck by a powerboat while holidaying in Mexico.

The boat was owned by Mexican businessman Carlos González Nova, however it was José Cen Yam who was found guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced to two years and ten months imprisonment.
Despite having no license to drive the boat, he claimed to drive it, and avoided jailtime by paying a £61 fine.
Speaking to The Sun, Kirsty’s ex-husband Steve Lillywhite revealed he didn’t believe it was Yam who operated the boat, but took the fall for his boss.

‘I think they just didn’t want to have an enormous lawsuit because he was one of the richest guys in Mexico,’ Steve said.
Jean Newlove, Kirsty’s mum, had launched a campaign in hopes to put together a judicial appeal, however, Nova died in 2009.
Elsewhere, Steve spoke about the ‘bittersweet feeling’ of hearing Fairytale of New York.

He said: ‘You know, we can’t bring Kirsty or Shane [MacGowan] back, but it also reminds us of those people who have passed. They both died near Christmas.
‘That’s the weird thing.’
Thursday (December 18) is the 26th anniversary of Kirsty’s tragic death while Shane died November 30, 2023, with this year his second anniversary.
The 65-year-old died following a long illness, leaving fans worldwide devastated.
