Penn State to lose star freshman defender Chaz Coleman to portal

Matt Campbell has been working hard to try and build his coaching staff and keep his roster in tact since taking over as the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions, but he suffered a bit of a setback on Thursday afternoon.
According to multiple reports, star freshman defender Chaz Coleman has announced that he will enter the transfer portal and look for a new team this offseason. Coleman was a breakout star for the Nittany Lions this year as a true freshman, and while he only had eight tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack, he was a havoc-wreaker in the middle of the trenches for Penn State.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Coleman was among the top priorities for Campbell to retain in Happy Valley, and the team was willing to pay up for him to remain with the Nittany Lions, but ultimately, Coleman chose to hit the portal and look for a new team.
At 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, as a former 4-star recruit with three years of eligibility remaining, Coleman is going to be one of the top names in the portal this year when it comes to the defensive line.
