An investigation has been launched into the death of a former Arsenal player – suspicious contact during the match is being investigated by authorities

A police investigation has been called into the incident that led to the death of 21-year-old footballer Billy Vigar, who was fatally injured during a match in September.
Vigar tragically lost his life on September 25, during a match for Chichester City away to Wingate & Finchley, a lower division club in English football. During a duel for the ball, he suffered a serious fall, hit his head on the concrete wall next to the pitch and died at the scene.
The former Arsenal academy player was running to catch the ball before it went out of bounds when he ended up colliding with the wall next to the pitch, suffering fatal injuries.
A full investigation has now been ordered to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The pathologist has requested police intervention in order to examine possible contact with an opposing player during the duel for the ball, before Vigar hit the wall.
The death of the former Arsenal player has shocked sporting opinion in England and prompted extra security checks at stadiums. An investigation will verify whether an opposing player deliberately pushed Vigar into the wall, causing the fatal incident.
Senior pathologist Andrew Walker, who is dealing with the case, has asked for the investigation to be expanded at Barnet Crown Court, highlighting that Vigar had been in contact with an opposing player before his death.
“The issue I want the investigation to cover is the nature of the contact between the two players involved,” Walker said.
On the other hand, Sergeant Colin Chandler informed the court that the Metropolitan Police investigation into Vigar’s death is still ongoing and that there are other leads to investigate, including the actions of the opposing player and the contact that occurred during the match. /Telegraph/
