Pete Davidson is officially a dad – and his daughter’s name is a beautiful tribute to his late father

Pete Davidson has played plenty of roles in his life, and has just added a new one to the list: Dad.
The comedian, 32, and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt, 29, have welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson.
“My best work yet, i am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief,” Hewitt, a model, captioned a photo of the couple holding their daughter in a December 18 Instagram post.

Scottie was born on December 12, and her name is a tribute to a special family member she never had the chance to meet.
Davidson’s father Scott Matthew Davidson was a firefighter who died during the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 when he was 33.
The Saturday Night Live alum was only seven at the time, and has spoken openly over the years about the grief of losing his father.
“It’s easy to be sad and try to make myself sad about it,” he told USA Today after he and Hewitt announced the pregnancy in July.

Davidson added that he believed his late dad was excited to meet his grandchild.
“It’s a beautiful thing. If anything, maybe he’s coming back through the baby.”
Davidson and Hewitt, who went public with their relationship early this year, shared the news of their impending first child via Instagram.
“Welp now everyone knows we had sex,” the mum-to-be joked.
Davidson told E! News he was “very, very happy” about the prospect of being a father.
“[I’m looking forward to] being able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn’t have,” he said.
“I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have, and what you didn’t like, not do it.”
