PHOENIX — It’s no surprise that Phoenix Suns’ Dillon Brooks has been a core piece of the team’s rotation and has shown why he’s the heartbeat of the team against the Golden State Warriors so far.

Against a dominant Warriors team, the Suns have their work cut out for them. However, this time, they have Brooks ready to go.
Suns head coach Jordan Ott has been vocal on how important the “Villain” has been for the team and what his experience brings.
“They’re going against teams that have been through the fire,” Ott said pre-game. “[Brooks] obviously has the history of playoff series with these guys. So just his knowledge and IQ of who the Warriors are… We love having him out there.”

The game starts with a 3-pointer from Golden State’s Quinten Post before the Suns’ Brooks responds with one of his own. Both teams exchanged leads throughout the first quarter, with Brooks tallying for most of Phoenix’s points early on.
Golden State went on a small 8-0 run to take the lead, and despite Phoenix making a small comeback to end the first quarter, finish down 29-26. Out of 26 points, Brooks scored 13.

As the second quarter came underway, both teams continued to battle, but neither group went on the offensive run it needed for breathing room. Midway through the second, Golden State once again took control of the lead and didn’t give it up the rest of the first half.
Brooks ended the half with 20 points and shot 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
The Suns trail 53-46 at halftime, hoping for more production from the rest of the group in the second half.
