Heat welcome Matt back

Star spinner Matt Kuhnemann is set to make his first appearance of the BBL season for Brisbane Heat on Friday night after recovering from a side strain.

The Australian representative missed the Heat’s first-up loss to the Melbourne Renegades last Monday in Geelong.

However, Kuhnemann has been selected in Brisbane’s squad for Friday’s Gabba battle against the Perth Scorchers.

His return comes at the expense of fellow left-arm spinner Paddy Dooley, who will drop out of the Heat squad.

“He’s bowling really well and he’s back to full fitness, so to have an Australian international player come back into our side is a big boost and we’re looking forward to having him back,” Heat star Nathan McSweeney said of Kuhnemann.

Brisbane has also called Toombul pace bowler Tom Balkin into its 14-player squad.

Balkin has been included as the Heat’s third “Local Replacement Player”.

English batsman Tom Alsop remains sidelined with a knee injury, while Test squad members
