Ashton Kutcher is opening up in the wake of the deadly antisemitic attack at a Hanukkah celebration on Australia’s Bondi Beach.
The No Strings Attached star, 47, spoke out about his connection to Judaism and why he feels compelled to be vocal during moments of rising hate.
The actor marked the first night of Hanukkah alongside wife Mila Kunis during a visit to the Los Angeles home of Jewish activist Noa Tishby, where the trio discussed the significance of the holiday in a video shared on social media.

Kutcher, who was raised Catholic, reflected on his spiritual journey and said his embrace of Judaism grew from learning that Jesus himself was Jewish.
“If you want to actually understand what Jesus would do, you learn Judaism,” Kutcher said in the video, adding that studying the faith helped him better understand how to live “as a human.”
Kutcher also addressed why he chooses to speak publicly when antisemitism escalates.
“Anytime the world is in a place where there’s an instant stigma on an identity,” he said, “that’s a good moment to be totally revealing about my identity, so that there’s a sense of safety in that.”

The conversation followed a shooting at a Hanukkah event in Bondi Beach that Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described as an act of antisemitic terrorism. Fifteen people were killed, including a 10-year-old child, with dozens more injured.
Kutcher condemned the violence in a post on X, writing, “Antisemitic rhetoric is not abstract. It carries a cost, and my brothers and sisters continue to pay it.”
He and Kunis, who are raising their two children in the Jewish faith, also spoke about Hanukkah’s emphasis on everyday miracles and the importance of creating light for others during dark moments.
