Chitrangda Singh responds to backlash for films like Housefull 5

In her conversation with Zoom regarding the criticism for taking on projects like Housefull 5, Chitrangda remarked, “A creative fulfillment comes when you try something different. If I keep doing similar roles, the audience might say that I only do this repeatedly. It’s easy for them to judge, but I don’t feel constrained. Even if I performed a special song or an item number, I found joy in it. I had a lot of fun because I thought I couldn’t do this. When Farah suggested I could take on this spicy number, I felt this isn’t what I’m typically associated with. As an actor, your role is to embody that character. Naturally, the right collaborators are essential. Whether it’s independent films or commercial projects, with the right team, that cinema will captivate the audience.”

(Translation: You experience creative satisfaction when engaging in something new. Otherwise, the audience is there to critique repetitive roles. It’s easy for them to judge, but I don’t feel constrained. If I participated in a special song or an item number, I enjoyed it. I loved it because I never envisioned myself in that role. When Farah said, ‘You can do this spicy number’, I thought this isn’t what I’m known for. I believe as an actor, your job is to transform into that character. Clearly, the right people should be involved. Whether it’s independent cinema or commercial, with the right people, it will resonate with the audience.)
