A new TV star made their debut on the ITV show on Friday (December 19)

This Morning fans have called for Angela Scanlon to be made full-time on the ITV show after she stepped in as a guest presenter.
The Irish TV host joined Dermot O’Leary on the sofa on Friday (December 19), becoming the latest celeb to step in this week after Emma Willis had to pull out due to illness. It was Angela’s first time presenting on This Morning.
Introducing her as the show opened, Dermot told viewers: “For the first time ever – I can’t quite believe I am saying that, what have we been thinking of – look who joins us! Ladies and gentlemen, may I present Angela Scanlan!”
“Thank you, thank you,” she exclaimed. “Isn’t it wild?” “It is glorious, and I’m so happy to be popping my This Morning cherry with you, Dermot,” she said.

Viewers quickly took to the star, with several posting about it on social media.
“I like Angela, she is very mischievous, and I like that,” one person said on X, formerly Twitter.
Someone else wrote: “Angela Scanlon is FANTASTIC hosting This Morning. Needs to be full-time.”
Another fan called her “a natural”. Somebody else wrote: “Angela Scanlon makes This Morning instantly more watchable. She’d be my first choice to replace Claudia (Winkleman) on Strictly – similar adorable quirky energy.”
Another suggested that Angela had “better chemistry” with Dermot than he did with some of the other guest hosts who have stepped in.

However, others confessed they weren’t sure who she was.
“Who is this woman?” asked one baffled viewer, as somebody else asked: “Who’s the new presenter with Dermot please.”

This Morning’s regular hosts are Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, who present from Monday to Thursday, with Dermot and Alison Hammond taking over on Fridays. During holidays, they are usually replaced by a rotating roster of guest stars.
Angela said it was ‘wild’ to be on the show
At the start of this week, Dermot told viewers that Emma Willis had been due to present with him.
He said, “Full disclosure, Emma Willis was supposed to be in this week. Emma is a little bit poorly. So we are sending her a big love.”
Josie Gibson stepped in that day, with Olivia Attwood and Angela also doing stints on the ITV show.
