William ‘The Magpie’ O’Connor
WILLIAM ‘The Magpie’ O’Connor of Cappamore will make his entry in the evening session of the World Championship – prize money £5million – against Krzysztof Kciuk (Poland) at the Alexandra Palace, London, this Friday, December 19.
O’Connor – whose walk-on music is Zombie from The Cranberries – is the overwhelming 2/9 favourite in this opening round tie.
The winner will advance to meet three-time champion Michael van Gerwen (Netherlands) or Mitsuhiko Tatsunami – the pair meet on Thursday night – in the second round.
O’Connor, aged 39, has twice reached the last 32 of the championship.
