Jessie Buckley, an Irish actress and singer, has carved out a significant name for herself in the entertainment world, earning nominations for prestigious awards such as an Academy Award and three BAFTA Awards.
The 35-year-old actress kick-started her career in 2008 as a runner-up on the BBC TV talent show I’d Do Anything. Following this success, she made appearances in various BBC television series, including War and Peace (2016) and Taboo (2017).
In the same year, Jessie made her film debut with a leading role in Beast and achieved her breakthrough performance in the musical film Wild Rose (2018). Her portrayal of an aspiring country music singer in the latter earned her a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
In 2022, she released a collaborative album titled For All Our Days That Tear the Heart with Bernard Butler, which was shortlisted for the 2022 Mercury Prize.

Now, the actress is back in the limelight due to her critically acclaimed performance in the historical drama Hamnet. Starring opposite Paul Mescal, the Irish actor portrays William Shakespeare’s wife, Agnes, a role that has garnered her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, reports the Irish Mirror.
Jessie is scheduled to appear on tonight’s (December 19) episode of The Graham Norton Show, where she will discuss her new role in the tragic drama.
Private family life
Numerous celebrities opt to shield their love lives from public scrutiny, but Jessie has elevated this approach to extraordinary heights. The performer has maintained such discretion around her marriage that the public knows her spouse solely by his first name: Freddie.
The star has been wed to Freddie for more than two years following their introduction through a blind date arranged by a mutual acquaintance.

Whilst the exact timeline of their romance remains unclear, Jessie first acknowledged her relationship with Freddie during a 2021 Guardian interview, lovingly describing him as her “fella” and mentioning they’d “been together for a while”.
The pair have since expanded their family, with Jessie revealing her pregnancy through a baby bump display at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this past April.
Though the precise date of their first child’s arrival with Freddie remains undisclosed, the actress discussed her new role as a mother during a November chat with People magazine.
Whilst reflecting on her latest film Hamnet and the Academy Award speculation surrounding her performance, the actress revealed she’s “just trying to be present”. She continued, “I’m also a new mom, so, like, most of the time I’m changing a nappy and coming to things like this.”
