Arthur Okonkwo: Wrexham to back keeper after error – Phil Parkinson

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson says the whole club will rally behind goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo after his inexplicable error gifted Swansea City a stoppage-time win.
Friday’s Championship fixture was heading for a draw when Okonkwo failed to deal with a cross and then spilled a subsequent looping header from Ben Cabango, giving a disbelieving Adam Idah the easiest tap-in he is ever likely to score.
The two costly mistakes in quick succession were in stark contrast to the 24-year-old keeper’s impressive recent performances while first choice Danny Ward has been out injured.
“Obviously the goal which is decided the game is a tough one for us to take… a very strange goal to concede,” said Parkinson.
“But Arthur’s been outstanding for us, not just this season, in previous seasons, you know, he’s been a colossus of a goalkeeper and it’s a high-profile mistake.
“But he’ll get every bit of support from us because he’s won us a lot of points over the last few years.”
