Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday December 20th and the days ahead

Adelaide is heading into a more comfortable stretch of weather over the coming week, with cooler nights, mild daytime temperatures and only a brief bout of wet weather before sunshine takes over again, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The remainder of Saturday is mostly sunny and warm, with temperatures reaching a top of 28 degrees. While conditions will stay largely dry, there is a slight chance of a shower later tonight. Winds will shift through the day, and sun protection is essential, with the UV Index forecast to reach an extreme level of 14.
Sunday brings the most unsettled conditions of the week as a trough of low pressure moves through. Showers are expected, particularly during the morning and early afternoon, with rainfall totals of up to 5 millimetres possible. There is also the chance of a thunderstorm early in the day. Temperatures will be cooler, ranging from a minimum of 17 degrees to a maximum of 24 degrees, with gusty winds adding to the unsettled feel.
By Monday, conditions begin to stabilise as a ridge of high pressure extends across the state. Adelaide can expect partly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures, with a top of 23 degrees and overnight lows dropping to 13 degrees. Only a slight chance of a shower remains.
Tuesday continues the improving trend, with partly cloudy conditions and temperatures edging up slightly to a maximum of 24 degrees. Overnight temperatures remain cool, sitting around 15 degrees.
Midweek stays settled and comfortable. Wednesday will be partly cloudy with a top of 25 degrees, followed by Christmas Eve bringing similar conditions and a maximum of 27 degrees as cloud continues to clear.
Christmas Day is shaping up to be a pleasant one, with sunshine returning and temperatures reaching 27 degrees. By Friday, the warmer weather makes a stronger return, with mostly sunny skies and a top of 30 degrees forecast.
The broader weather picture shows the low-pressure system contracting east by Sunday, allowing stable high-pressure conditions to dominate South Australia through much of the week. While strong wind warnings remain in place for several coastal zones through Sunday, marine conditions are expected to improve as the system moves away.
