Will Tyrese Maxey play vs Knicks?

Philly will hope to have star guard Tyrese Maxey back, who has missed the last two games due to an illness. As of Friday, Maxey was not listed on the Sixers injury report.

The Sixers are 1-1 without Maxey, who is third in the league in scoring with 31.5 points per game.

Controversial no call in Sixers-Hawks game

In the loss to Atlanta, the game ended on a controversial no call on an alleged backcourt violation against the Hawks.

Up by 1 point with 2.5 seconds left, the Hawks inbounded the ball to guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker who appeared to have received the ball in the frontcourt before traveling into the backcourt.

Sixers rookie guard V.J. Edgecombe then fouled Alexander-Walker, who went on to sink two free throws. Atlanta won by three after Sixers guard Quentin Grimes missed a three at the buzzer.

The non call threw Sixers announcer Alaa Abdelnaby into a frenzy as the former NBA forward argued the refs errored on the play.

However, the officials NBA referees account on X shot back at Abdelnaby while providing an explanation as to why the refs made the correct call.

The account posted other examples of similar plays to emphasize their point.

The unusual post led to a back and forth between the NBA account and Abdelnaby, who was not swayed by their decision making.
