Diwali 2025 Live Updates: PM Modi celebrates Diwali with Navy personnel on board the INS Vikrant

Diwali 2025 Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday celebrated Diwali with “brave soldiers” of the Navy onboard the INS Vikrant off the coast of Goa and Karwar.

“I am fortunate that this time I am celebrating this holy festival of Diwali among all you brave soldiers of the Navy”, said PM Modi.

“The night spent yesterday on INS Vikrant is hard to put into words. I saw the immense energy and enthusiasm you all were filled with. When I saw you singing patriotic songs yesterday, and the way you described Operation Sindoor in your songs, no words can ever fully convey the experience that a jawan feels standing on a battlefield,” he added while addressing the soldiers on board INS Vikrant.

Earlier today, PM Modi and several leaders across the country extended their greetings, highlighting the festival’s themes of harmony, prosperity, and social responsibility.

Leaders share festive messages
PM Modi, in a post on X, wrote, “Greetings on the occasion of Diwali. May this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. May the spirit of positivity prevail all around us.”

President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her heartfelt wishes, urging citizens to celebrate safely, responsibly, and in an environmentally friendly manner. “This festival of joy is also an occasion for self-reflection and self-improvement. It is also an opportunity to help and support the deprived and the needy, and to bring joy into their lives,” she said. The President further emphasised that Diwali symbolises the triumph of good over evil and reinforces mutual affection and brotherhood.

Ayodhya lights up the world
On the eve of Deepotsav, Ayodhya entered the Guinness World Records by lighting over 26 lakh oil lamps (2,617,215 diyas) along the banks of the Saryu River, creating the largest-ever display of its kind. The event also featured the largest Saryu aarti, with 2,128 devotees participating in a coordinated ritual.

Officials reported that more than 30,000 volunteers from universities, colleges, and various departments took part in diya-lighting and synchronised rotational activities. The lamps were arranged meticulously to ensure accurate counting and verification by Guinness World Records representatives.

This monumental celebration not only highlighted Ayodhya’s spiritual heritage but also drew attention to community participation, devotion, and environmental awareness during one of India’s most cherished festivals.

Across the nation, communities celebrated Diwali with decorations, lights, fireworks, and traditional rituals, embodying the festival’s timeless message: the triumph of good over evil and the enduring power of hope, charity, and togetherness.
