In the bustling city of London, commuters have been facing disruptions to their daily routines, with delays and cancellations affecting various lines of the London Underground, Overground, and train services. These disruptions have created additional stress for passengers relying on public transport to get to their destinations on time. With multiple lines affected and engineering works taking place, travellers are left navigating an already complex network of transportation in the UK. Here’s a comprehensive breakdown of the situation and what commuters need to know to plan their journeys more effectively.

Bakerloo Line Delays

The Bakerloo Line is the only London Underground line currently experiencing delays, though these delays are reported to be relatively minor. Passengers are advised to expect some disruptions in service, particularly during peak hours. The delays are attributed to a shortage of trains, which has caused significant backlogs. While the rest of the London Underground and Overground services are running smoothly, those relying on the Bakerloo Line should allow extra time for their commute.

Delays on the A12

Road users in London are also facing delays, particularly on the A12. Additional travel time of approximately 5 to 7 minutes has been reported for buses and other vehicles travelling through Ardleigh Green Road, Gubbins Lane, and Gooshays Drive. For those travelling on North Street away from Romford, there is an average delay of 3 to 4 minutes. Further delays are expected on the A13 westbound and the M11 southbound during peak periods, making it crucial for motorists to consider alternative routes.

No Trains to/from London Fenchurch Street After 8:45 PM

Commuters travelling through London Fenchurch Street should be aware that engineering works will halt train services to and from the station from 8:45 PM until the end of the service. As a result, there will be no trains operating on this route, and passengers will need to make alternative travel arrangements. Trains will be diverted to London Liverpool Street via Stratford, which is conveniently located a short distance from Fenchurch Street. Additionally, shuttle train services will run between Upminster and Grays via Ockendon, with some routes being diverted after 10:45 PM.

Buses Replacing Trains Between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey

In the early hours, train services between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey are being replaced by buses due to engineering work. Replacement buses will run throughout the morning, stopping at all stations. Passengers planning to travel on the London Northwestern Railway should be aware that the 05:51 Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey service and the 06:09 St Albans Abbey to Watford Junction service will not run until Wednesday. Buses will provide the only alternative means of travel during this period.

Disruption Between Havant and Chichester

A broken-down train in the Bosham area has caused all lines between Havant and Chichester to be closed, with disruption expected until 9 AM. Passengers travelling between Havant and Chichester, as well as other routes including Portsmouth & Southsea, Southampton Central, and Brighton, may experience delays of up to 30 minutes, cancellations, or revised schedules. Routes affected by this disruption include services between Portsmouth & Southsea and Southampton Central, and also between Havant and London Victoria.

Chancery Lane Station Closed

Chancery Lane station is temporarily closed due to a lack of station staff. Passengers are advised that London Buses are accepting tickets for travel. Those planning to use this station should consider alternative routes to reach their destinations.

Jubilee Line Running Smoothly

On a positive note, the Jubilee Line is currently running a good service, with no reported delays. Passengers relying on the Jubilee Line can expect a smooth commute, making it one of the few lines unaffected by the current disruptions.

Disruption Through Twickenham

A broken-down freight train at Twickenham has caused disruption on all lines running through the station. Passengers travelling through Twickenham on services to Reading, Farnham, Windsor & Eton Riverside, and other destinations are facing delays of up to 10 minutes, cancellations, or route revisions. This disruption is expected to last until 12 PM today.

Delays on Bishopsgate Cross Route

Further delays have been reported on King William Street, due to road closures related to urban realm works. Passengers should be prepared for minor disruptions on this route as work continues to improve the local infrastructure.

Amended Late Night Avanti West Coast Service

Due to engineering work between Wolverton and Rugby, 2 out of 4 lines have been closed overnight, causing delays for Avanti West Coast services. Trains scheduled to run after 10:15 PM, including the Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston service and others, will be diverted via Northampton, resulting in extended journey times. Passengers are advised to check their services for any changes before travelling.
